Arsenal Shifts Focus to Champion Striker After Missing Out on Vinícius

Arsenal shifts its target to a "champion striker" after missing out on Vinícius.

According to the well-known football media TEAMTALK, the "Gunners," Arsenal, the latest English Premier League champions, have changed their target to sign Nicolás Williams, the Spanish international winger who won the 2025 World Cup, after missing the chance to acquire Vinícius Júnior, the Brazilian international winger who decided to extend his contract with Real Madrid until 2032.

Arsenal is still looking to add at least one more attacking player before the summer transfer window closes. Their top target was Vinícius Júnior of Real Madrid, but they were disappointed when he chose to renew his contract with Real Madrid, forcing them to seek a new target to strengthen their squad for the upcoming 2026-27 season.

The latest reports state that Nicolás Williams, the winger from Athletic Bilbao, is the player Arsenal is interested in. Williams has a release clause of £77 million at Bilbao, a figure Arsenal can afford.

In fact, Arsenal has been interested in Williams for some time, and Williams is now open to new challenges, including moving to play in England.

Meanwhile, Kevin Nolan, former West Ham United captain turned football analyst, believes Williams would be more suitable for Arsenal than Vinícius Júnior.

“I think a player like Nicolás Williams would fit Arsenal very well in the left-wing position. He is probably a better match for Arsenal’s style than Vinícius Júnior,” Nolan said.
