Liverpool celebrates as two global billionaires plan to purchase a 30% stake, with the club's valuation expected to soar.
On 10 August 2026 GMT+7, Sky Sports and BBC Sport reported that an investor group including Jeff Bezos, the billionaire founder of Amazon, has advanced negotiations to acquire approximately a 30% stake in Liverpool, the famous English Premier League club.
This investor group is led by Amit Bhatia, a British-Indian billionaire businessman, and also includes Eduardo Saverin, co-founder of Facebook. The announcement may be made within this week.
The investment, previously reported at £1.35 billion (approximately 60.25 billion baht) for about 30% of the club, would value Liverpool at around £4.4 billion (about 196.37 billion baht), marking one of the highest-value deals in sports.
Fenway Sports Group (FSG), Liverpool's owner, confirmed last month that the investors have expressed strategic interest in acquiring a minority stake in Liverpool.
Amit Bhatia is the son-in-law of Lakshmi Mittal, the Indian billionaire businessman, and served as a director and co-owner of Queens Park Rangers football club for 18 years before divesting his shares last month.
Jeff Bezos, the American businessman and founder of the e-commerce giant Amazon, is the world's fourth richest person. According to Forbes, the 62-year-old billionaire has a net worth of about $256 billion (or £192 billion).
FSG, which bought Liverpool for £300 million in 2010, previously sold a minority stake of the club to Dynasty Equity, a global sports investment company.
