Liverpool has officially signed their third new player, revealing contract details and shirt number.
On 11 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Liverpool, a leading Premier League club, officially announced the signing of Ronald Araújo, the Uruguay national team defender, from La Liga giants Barcelona. The transfer is a one-season loan with an option to buy for 55 million euros (47 million pounds) without any obligation.
Ben Jacobs, a well-known transfer market journalist from Talksport, revealed that Liverpool will cover Ronald Araújo's full wages.
However, the player agreed to reduce his wages compared to what he earned at Barcelona for the upcoming season in exchange for joining Liverpool and the chance for regular playing time. There is no loan fee involved in this agreement.
Ronald Araújo will wear the number 33 shirt for Liverpool. He is the third new first-team signing for the Reds this summer, following Jérémy Doku and Víctor Muñoz.
Araújo replaces Ibrahima Konaté, who left Liverpool after his contract expired to join Real Madrid on a free transfer. Araújo can play both center-back and right-back, giving new manager Andoni Iraola more defensive options.
