Unai Emery, manager of the "Villans" Aston Villa, expressed pride in every player despite their 1-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the 2026 UEFA Super Cup final last night.
Rising star Bryan Mbuemo scored his first goal for Aston Villa’s senior team, equalizing after Kviça Kvaratskhelia had put PSG ahead.
Aston Villa, missing several key players, fought hard but ultimately lost in the second half when Desire Doué scored the winning goal for Paris Saint-Germain.
Emery said, "When you lose, you can't feel happy, but with the full effort, the players’ response throughout the 90 minutes, and our chances to score, we must be proud of what we did today."
"They showed they are learning from hard work. This was how we decided before the game we wanted to play. We have trained players in each position accordingly."
For their next friendly, Aston Villa will face Borussia Mönchengladbach on 15 August.
