Chelsea Decides on Enzo After Premier League Rival Targets Midfielder

Chelsea has made a decision concerning Enzo Fernandez following interest from a Premier League rival aiming to sign him.

On 13 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Chelsea finalized plans about Enzo Fernandez's future. The Argentine midfielder has been linked with Manchester City, their Premier League rival, who want to acquire him in this summer's transfer market.

BBC Sport reported that Chelsea has set a deadline for Friday, 14 Aug 2026, at 17:00 BST (23:00 GMT+7) for offers to buy Enzo Fernandez, pricing him at £120 million or more.

Enzo Fernandez's future at Chelsea has been uncertain since March after he mentioned the possibility of joining Real Madrid. His agent, Javier Pastore, also stated that the player is underpaid and wishes to transfer.

However, Real Madrid has declared no plans to sign Enzo Fernandez, leaving Manchester City as the only interested club. City's new manager, Enzo Maresca, a former Chelsea coach, succeeded Pep Guardiola.

It remains unclear whether Manchester City will agree to Chelsea's £120 million asking price, as the "Sky Blues" are also interested in Ayyoub Bouaddi, a Moroccan international midfielder from Lille.

Chelsea insists on a minimum £120 million fee for Enzo Fernandez, whom they bought from Benfica for £107 million in 2023. They believe Manchester City has set a price ceiling after spending £116 million to acquire Elliott Anderson from Nottingham Forest.
