Arsenal is making a bold move by negotiating to acquire a top striker considered just as impressive as Vinicius.
On 14 Aug 2026 GMT+7, BBC Sport and The Times, leading British media outlets, jointly reported that Arsenal, the latest English Premier League champions, have begun talks with Turkish giants Galatasaray regarding the possible signing of Nigerian international striker Victor Osimhen.
Sources say Arsenal inquired about Victor Osimhen while Galatasaray was negotiating over two "Gunners" players: Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli and English academy graduate midfielder Ethan Vanery.
Galatasaray offered €45 million (£38 million), and Arsenal appears willing to sell Gabriel Martinelli this summer to raise funds for signing a marquee attacking player to strengthen their squad.
However, reports reveal that Gabriel Martinelli is not yet keen to move to Turkey, while Galatasaray is also interested in Ethan Vanery. At just 19 years old, Arsenal has a chance to command a significant transfer fee for this homegrown academy talent.
Nonetheless, Galatasaray seems intent on retaining Victor Osimhen, having earlier rejected a £111 million bid this summer from Saudi Arabian deep-pocketed club Al Hilal.
Arsenal recently signed Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United for £75 million and still wants to bolster their attack after missing out on Vinicius Junior, who renewed with Real Madrid. They are prepared to sell Gabriel Jesus to make way for the new striker.
