Manchester United take note: Elliot Anderson reveals why he rejected the Red Devils.
Elliot Anderson, the new midfielder for the "Sky Blues" Manchester City, confirmed he never considered moving to the "Red Devils" Manchester United and that Manchester City has always been his only choice.
Previously, there were reports that Ryan Giggs, the Manchester United legend, tried to persuade the 23-year-old Anderson to join Manchester United during a chance meeting on a golf trip earlier this summer. However, Anderson eventually moved from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City for a club-record fee of £116 million.
Anderson said, “Yes, I was playing golf in Portugal and happened to run into a few of them, including Ryan Giggs. We had a nice chat, but I had to make a decision, and I chose Manchester City.”
“My teammates have welcomed me warmly. Training has been going well, and I’m adjusting to everything. It’s really great. I’ve already trained a bit with Enzo Maresca, and you can see how much attention he pays to detail. I’m really looking forward to playing.”
Regarding the possibility of making his debut in the Community Shield, Anderson said, “Having the chance to win a trophy in the first week is great. So I hope I get to play and show what I can do.”
“I want to show everyone what I’m capable of and try not to focus too much on the transfer fee. But I’m confident that next season I’ll demonstrate my best abilities.”
Anderson hopes to team up with Rodri in Manchester City's midfield. At the time of his transfer agreement, reports claimed Manchester City had rejected a £55 million offer from Barcelona for Rodri.
Anderson said, “He is one of the best midfielders in the world, and I think everyone would want to play alongside him. I’m not sure what the future holds for Rodri, and I won’t get involved in that, but it would be great to play with him.”
