Man City Has Made Its Decision on Enzo After Chelseas Deadline Today

Man City has finalized its decision regarding Enzo after Chelsea set today's deadline to acquire the player.

On 14 August 2026, Enzo Maresca, the new manager of Manchester City, gave an interview during the press conference ahead of the 2026 Community Shield match against Arsenal on Sunday, 16 August.

Maresca was asked about Man City's reported interest in signing Enzo Fernandez, the Argentine midfielder, while Chelsea, their Premier League rival, has set a deadline of 5:00 p.m. UK time (11:00 p.m. Thai time) today.

Chelsea confirmed that any club interested in Enzo Fernandez must submit an offer matching their valuation of £120 million, and no bids will be considered after the deadline.

When asked if Man City would sign Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea, Enzo Maresca replied, "I don't think it's appropriate to discuss players from other clubs. At the same time, I don't think it's appropriate for other clubs to talk about our players. That's why I won't do that."

Asked whether Man City would conduct any player transfers today, he responded, "To be honest, no. I don't think we will make any moves today."

This suggests that Enzo Fernandez will likely remain with Chelsea ahead of the 2026-27 Premier League season, especially after Real Madrid, the La Liga giant who had shown interest, decided to withdraw from pursuing the signing.
