Man United miss out as 'target player' prefers to move to Arsenal.
The Guardian, a prominent English media outlet, reports that Jarell Quansah, the England international defender from Bayer Leverkusen, wants to join Arsenal rather than Manchester United this summer.
It is understood that Mikel Arteta, Arsenal's manager, wants to strengthen defensive options before the summer transfer window closes, especially after William Saliba was injured at the 2026 World Cup. Quansah, aged 23, is one of their targets, as is Manchester United, who are also interested in the player.
Quansah moved from Liverpool to Leverkusen last year for £30 million, playing 28 Bundesliga matches in his first season. His outstanding form earned him a place in England's squad for the recent 2026 World Cup.
In fact, Leverkusen does not want to sell Quansah, but they are willing to negotiate if they receive a £43 million offer. Meanwhile, Quansah himself is ready to return to play in England and prefers a move to Arsenal over Manchester United.
When asked about Arsenal's interest in Quansah, Arteta said, "I will definitely not talk about any individual player."
"What I can say is that the club's ambition is great. We want to develop the team, and to achieve that, we see areas where we can strengthen. That is what we are trying to do."
