Liverpool Faces Potential Management Change After Selling Share Portion to Bezos-Led Investment Group

Liverpool faces a potential management change following the disclosure of a share sale to the Bezos-led investment group.

On 18 August 2026, The Athletic, a leading UK media outlet, reported that Fenway Sports Group (FSG), the ownership group of Liverpool Football Club, has sold nearly 40% of its shares to an investor group that includes Jeff Bezos, the American billionaire founder of Amazon, the e-commerce giant.

Initial information from both parties indicated that the share transaction involved approximately 30-33%, but The Athletic obtained details from sources familiar with the agreement suggesting the actual figure is closer to 40%.

The investor group named 1892 Holdings, led by Amit Bhatia, former co-owner of Queens Park Rangers (who is set to become Liverpool's vice chairman), has purchased around 38% of the Reds' shares.

This stake represents a significant shareholding in the club. Moreover, under the terms agreed with FSG, 1892 Holdings has the option to acquire a majority stake and assume controlling authority over the Premier League club within the next 12 months.

The key figures in 1892 Holdings are Amit Bhatia, Jeff Bezos, and Eduardo Saverin, the billionaire co-founder of Facebook, who is also involved in the consortium.

This share sale agreement values Liverpool Football Club at between £5 billion and £6 billion (approximately 224.4 to 269.3 billion Thai baht).
