The Independent, a prominent British media outlet, reported that the "Blues" Chelsea, a strong club in the English Premier League, is considering making a surprising offer to acquire Marcus Rashford, the English international forward from the "Red Devils" Manchester United, to Stamford Bridge before the summer transfer window closes.
Chelsea has already spent over £300 million on new signings this summer, notably acquiring Morgan Rogers for £117 million, the most expensive deal in the club’s history.
In addition, Chelsea signed Maxence Lacroix, Marco Palestra, and Valentin Barco. They also brought in Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson. Under coach Xabi Alonso, the team started the Premier League season with a thrilling 3-2 victory over London West rivals Fulham last Monday night.
Currently, Chelsea is focusing on offloading players. Nicolas Jackson and Liam Delap are set to be sold, and the club is open to offers for Pedro Neto and Malo Gusto as well. Meanwhile, Enzo Fernandez remains linked with a move to Manchester City, but Chelsea demands at least £120 million for the Argentine midfielder.
Although Chelsea aims to raise funds by selling unwanted players, they remain open to signing another versatile forward before the summer transfer window closes next week.
According to the latest reports, Chelsea is considering making an offer for Marcus Rashford, a Manchester United forward who was loaned to Barcelona last season. However, Barcelona did not finalize a permanent deal, and the player returned to Old Trafford.
It is believed that deep down, Manchester United manager Michael Carrick wants to keep Rashford this season given the club’s participation in multiple competitions, but if a suitable offer arrives, the 28-year-old star might be allowed to move.
Rashford was brought on as a substitute in the second half of Manchester United’s 2026-27 Premier League opening match, which they lost 0-2 away to Hull City last Saturday.
