Bruno Fernandes, the captain and midfielder of Manchester United, has claimed the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Player of the Year award for the 2025/26 season.
At 31 years old, Bruno delivered a fiery performance last Premier League season, scoring 9 goals and providing 21 assists, making history as the player with the most assists in a single Premier League season—surpassing Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne, who had 20 assists each.
His outstanding play was key in helping Manchester United finish third in the league standings and secure a return to the UEFA Champions League.
Bruno received the highest number of votes from his professional peers, edging out competitors such as Arsenal's Declan Rice and Manchester City's Erling Haaland.
He became the first Manchester United player in 16 years to earn this honor, following Wayne Rooney who won it in 2010.
Bruno said, “Of course, this is a very proud moment. These are the teams you face on the pitch, and it's not easy to vote for someone you play alongside. So this is truly a great moment.”
