Despite heavy spending on reinforcements, the big clubs sold several players as well. Some clubs undertook a squad overhaul, others needed to generate income to comply with financial regulations, and some sold to give players more career opportunities.
It turns out Chelsea earned the most from player sales in the Premier League's 2026-27 summer transfer window, with total revenue exceeding £400 million, notably including the sale of Enzo Fernández to Manchester City for £125 million, matching the record set by Alexander Isak's transfer from Newcastle to Liverpool last season.
Meanwhile, Manchester City, who spent the most in the Premier League this summer (£440.3 million), also earned the second-highest revenue from player sales, led by Rodri's move to Barcelona for a total of £65.4 million and Sávio's initial £75 million transfer to Tottenham Hotspur plus a £10 million bonus.
Liverpool, however, earned the least from player sales this summer among the top 8 clubs, with just £31 million from sales including Curtis Jones to Inter Milan and Stefan Bajcetic to Celta Vigo, while Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konaté, and Andy Robertson left on free transfers.
Manchester United earned slightly more than Liverpool from player sales, including the permanent transfer of Rasmus Højlund to Napoli as well as sales of academy prospects, but received no fees for Casemiro, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia, who all left after their contracts expired.
