Maresca speaks frankly after Man City’s first Premier League defeat to Aston Villa.
“Maresca” laments that “Man City” did not deserve to lose to “Aston Villa.”
Enzo Maresca, manager of the “Sky Blues” Manchester City, said his players performed well and did not deserve to lose 1-2 away to the “Villans” Aston Villa in the English Premier League last night, marking their first league defeat of the season.
Maresca said, “It was a good game, a good performance, but unfortunately we were the ones who lost. I believe we did well enough to get more from the match. We will learn and move forward.”
“We faced problems in the first 10-15 minutes because we anticipated their style of play to be one way, but they played differently. However, we adapted and regained control of the game.”
Regarding the halftime substitutions: “Both players had already received yellow cards, and in an atmosphere like this, sometimes it’s better to be cautious. Overall, I think we did well enough to come away with points.”
“When we scored, I felt we controlled the game, and that was true throughout. We created many chances but were unlucky not to score. We conceded a goal from a counterattack in the second half, which they executed very efficiently. It was a bit unlucky, and we will learn from it.”
“I want to emphasize again that I think today we deserved more.”
