Why Is There Only One Premier League Match on Sunday, 1 Nov?

Explaining why there is only one Premier League match on Sunday, 1 November.

This weekend, the Premier League has 10 matches scheduled, but 8 of them will be played on Saturday, 31 October, while Sunday features just one game, and another match is set for Monday.

The main reasons are the European football schedule, rest period regulations between matches, and television broadcast arrangements.

Normally, the Premier League schedules at least one match at 2:00 p.m. UK time on Sundays, but this weekend there will be no games at that time.

Originally, the Aston Villa versus Fulham match was set for that 2:00 p.m. Sunday slot, but it had to be rescheduled because Villa are due to play away at Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, 3 November.

The Premier League requires clubs to have at least two full days of rest between matches, meaning Villa could not play a league game on the Sunday immediately before their European fixture.

Therefore, that match was moved to Saturday, 31 October, at 8:00 p.m. UK time instead.

As a result, only one match remains on Sunday since the Villa-Fulham game was moved to Saturday, leaving the Sunday afternoon slot empty with no replacement fixture.

This leaves Liverpool versus Arsenal as the sole Premier League match on Sunday, 1 November, scheduled to kick off at 4:30 p.m. local time.
