Injured Liverpool has announced a 20-player squad for their away match at Marseille as they aim to qualify for the UCL knockout stage.
On 20 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Liverpool, currently 4th in the English Premier League, announced their 20-player traveling squad for the UEFA Champions League group stage matchday 7 against Olympique Marseille, who are 3rd in France's Ligue 1, scheduled for Wednesday, 21 Jan 2026 GMT+7.
As expected, Liverpool included star striker Mohamed Salah, who returned to training after completing his national team duties with Egypt at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where Egypt finished fourth.
However, Liverpool's squad misses French international defender Ibrahima Konaté, who reportedly returned home suddenly due to family reasons, leaving only two professional center-backs available: Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
This means Liverpool will be without five first-team players: Ibrahima Konaté, Alexander Isak, Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoní, and Stefan Bajcetic.
Before this match, Liverpool stands 9th with 12 points, while Olympique Marseille is 16th with 9 points; both teams are desperate for a win to keep their hopes alive for progressing to the knockout rounds.
