Four major clubs were eliminated in the first round of the UEFA Champions League 2025-26 following the conclusion of the league phase's final matches last night.
The latest updates from the UEFA Champions League 2025-26 season show that after completing all 8 matches in the league phase last night, nine teams have automatically qualified for the round of 16. Teams ranked 9th to 24th will proceed to the playoffs, while those ranked 25th to 36th have been immediately eliminated from the competition.
The four major clubs eliminated in this season's first round include Napoli from Italy's Serie A, Olympique Marseille from France's Ligue 1, as well as Ajax and PSV Eindhoven from the Netherlands.
The other eight teams that were stopped in their tracks are Pafos, Union Saint-Gilloise, Athletic Bilbao, Copenhagen, Eintracht Frankfurt, Slavia Prague, Villarreal, and Kairat Almaty.
