Outpouring of Support for Tottenham Goalkeeper After Conceding 3 Goals in 15 Minutes and Being Substituted in Tears

Antonin Kinski, the 22-year-old goalkeeper for the "Spurs" Tottenham Hotspur, had a nightmare debut in the UEFA Champions League that will be hard to forget.

He unexpectedly started the match thanks to Spurs coach Igor Tudor, but was substituted after only 17 minutes, having conceded three goals within the first 15 minutes, during the first leg of the round of 16, as the Spurs suffered a 2-5 away loss to Atletico Madrid last night.

The home team took the lead just six minutes in when Kinski’s clearance near the goal was intercepted by Julian Alvarez, who then set up Marcos Llorente to score.

At the 14th minute, Atletico Madrid extended their lead to 2-0, though this was hardly Kinski’s fault. Poor defense by Mickey van de Ven and Jed Spence allowed Antoine Griezmann to score.

Seconds later, Kinski made a poor pass, enabling Julian Alvarez to capitalize and score into an open net, pushing Atletico ahead 3-0.

This prompted Tudor to immediately substitute Vicario in as goalkeeper, while Kinski left the field with tears in his eyes. Despite being a rival player, Atletico Madrid fans loudly cheered him on, while Spurs players Palinha, Gallagher, and Solanke followed to console him.

Kinski, born in Prague, is in his second season with Spurs and this was his 13th appearance in all competitions.
