Peter Schmeichel Comments on Tottenhams Antonin Kinski After Early Substitution in UCL

Peter Schmeichel, the legendary Manchester United goalkeeper, spoke about Antonin Kinski, Tottenham Hotspur's goalkeeper, after he was substituted as early as the 17th minute in the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League.

On 11 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Peter Schmeichel, the legendary Danish goalkeeper and Manchester United icon from the English Premier League, spoke about Antonin Kinski, the Czech goalkeeper of Tottenham Hotspur, after he was substituted as early as the 17th minute.

Antonin Kinski unexpectedly made his first start under Croatian coach Igor Tudor in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg, as Tottenham visited Atletico Madrid, a strong team from Spain's La Liga. However, it turned into a nightmare as Kinski made two serious mistakes, conceding three goals within the first 15 minutes, before being substituted for Guillermo Vicarío. Tottenham eventually lost 2-5.

Recently, Peter Schmeichel said, "I don’t know what Igor Tudor was thinking. Substituting Antonin Kinski at the 17th minute will undoubtedly affect the rest of his football career. Everyone will remember this incident whenever they see or hear his name. Being three goals down, the team had little chance to come back. I think he should have been allowed to continue, at least until halftime. What Igor Tudor did is like destroying Antonin Kinski’s career already."
