Galatasaray Takes Legal Action! Seeks Compensation After Player Injured by Advertisement Board at Liverpools Home Ground

Galatasaray takes serious action! They file a compensation claim after their player severely injures his finger caught on an advertising board at Liverpool's home stadium, leading to their exit from the UEFA Champions League.

On 20 March 2026, Galatasaray filed a compensation claim after their player Noah Lang severely injured his finger when it got caught on an advertising board at Anfield during their away match against Liverpool. The team, led by Dutch coach Arne Slot, lost 0-4, and with an aggregate score of 1-4, they were eliminated in the round of 16 of the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League.

Erray Yasga, Galatasaray's secretary general, confirmed the legal action: “We filed a complaint with UEFA representatives after the match, and they have begun an investigation. UEFA will assess the situation. We are currently consulting with our legal team and will proceed to claim damages from UEFA, including the player's wages lost due to the injury.”

Following the incident, Noah Lang underwent emergency surgery to treat the damaged finger. He posted on social media: “Accidents happen. The surgery went well. Thank you all for your support.”

However, Galatasaray's management remains dissatisfied and insists on compensation for the player's wages during his recovery period, viewing the incident as a preventable accident caused by the condition of the pitch.

After the match, Anfield staff were seen inspecting the area where the incident occurred, but no clear conclusion has been reached yet on whether the advertising board posed a hazard or if it was an unfortunate accident.

UEFA released a statement saying, “UEFA has investigated the incident that led to this accident and will review the placement of sideline equipment, including LED boards, in all future matches. We wish Noah Lang a speedy recovery.”
