What "Slot" Said: Sharp Words Against PSG Before Liverpool's UCL Comeback Bid
On 13 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Arne Slot, Liverpool's manager and the English Premier League's fifth-placed team leader, spoke at a press conference ahead of the UEFA Champions League 2025-26 quarterfinal second leg, hosting Paris Saint-Germain, Ligue 1 leaders from France, on Tuesday, 14 Apr 2026 GMT+7.
Liverpool still has a chance to turn the tie around and reach the semifinals to vie for the UCL title, their last hope to lift the trophy this season, after losing 0-2 away to PSG in the first leg last week.
Arne Slot responded to questions about what he said to his players to ensure they could overturn PSG and advance in the UEFA Champions League: "First of all, I had to remind them the aggregate score is 2-0."
"It's completely different from usual, as we all know, but the final result is 2-0. Secondly, we've shown multiple times in big matches this season that we can perform excellently."
"We've also shown a different side, which I am aware of, but there have been many games where we played very well, especially in big matches."
"In the 49 home games under my management, we've scored two or more goals in 36 matches. Yes, we didn't play all those 49 games against PSG, I know, but the opponents in the Premier League and Champions League we've faced have been very strong."
"So yes, we have confidence that we can do something special tomorrow, but we must perform exceptionally well to achieve that. We're playing against the European champions, which makes the task harder, but it's not impossible."
"We know we must play excellently to advance, but that's normal when facing the European champions. We've scored more than two goals on some occasions before."
"For now, we just focus on the task ahead, start aggressively, and ensure we get back into the game by scoring. I know they will try to score first, and so will we."
