Vincent Kompany Questions Controversial Moment After Bayern Munichs 4-5 Loss to Paris in UEFA Champions League

Vincent Kompany expressed strong doubts after Bayern Munich lost 4-5 away to Paris Saint-Germain in the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg.

On 29 April 2026, Belgian coach Vincent Kompany revealed his deep doubts following the match where Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich were defeated 4-5 away by Ligue 1 heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain, coached by Spaniard Luis Enrique, in the first leg of the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League semi-finals last night.

Vincent Kompany questioned the controversial moment when his team conceded a penalty, awarded after Alphonso Davies was judged to have handled the ball while blocking an opponent's cross, which shifted the score to 3-2 in favor of the home side; the match ended 4-5.

Vincent Kompany said, “I think that penalty decision is very questionable. From what I saw, the ball hit Alphonso Davies first and then bounced onto his arm. Then in the second half, we conceded two more goals. We faced difficulties and tried to come back but it was too late. Normally, conceding five goals in a game would almost certainly mean elimination. But we showed confidence and will push on at Allianz Arena — a place where anything can happen.”
