Wayne Rooney, the former famous striker, criticized Bayern Munich and PSG after their 9-goal thriller in the UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg last night.
Wayne Rooney, former England international striker, criticized the defense of "Die Roten" Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, saying they conceded goals like school-level players after Bayern lost 4-5 away to PSG in the UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg last night.
"I think Luis Enrique (PSG coach) is a top-level coach. So when they were leading 5-2, I think he should have said, ‘Alright, let's tighten up the defense, play solidly at the back, make it difficult for the opponents, and protect the score,’ which might have helped them reach the final. But they didn't do that; instead, they chose to keep attacking."
"As for Vincent Kompany (Bayern coach), he has a team that focuses heavily on offense, and I think it is clear that they haven't practiced their defensive game much."
"Some of the goals we saw today were like school-level football. At this level, we expect mature defending, but it was very poor."
"If I were the coach of either team, I think I would be disappointed to have conceded so many goals."
For the second leg of the semi-final, Bayern Munich will host PSG at Allianz Arena on 6 May.
