No full celebration for "Man Utd" as they face latest bad news after beating Roma in the UCL, easing pressure on "Carrick".
On 4 November 2026 GMT+7, Michael Carrick, Manchester United's manager, revealed bad news after the UEFA Champions League 2026-27 group stage matchday 4. At home, they staged a dramatic comeback to beat Roma 3-2, securing their first victory in 10 matches.
Although the situation improved with Man Utd rising to 6 points and 17th place in the UCL group standings, Michael Carrick confirmed that Carlos Baleba, the Cameroon international midfielder, suffered an injury during the victory over Roma.
Carlos Baleba started for Man Utd alongside Kobby Mendu for the first time since joining from Brighton this season, but he suffered a hamstring muscle injury that forced a substitution with Youri Tielemans in the 51st minute.
Michael Carrick shared an update on Carlos Baleba's condition: "I don't have further information about Carlos's injury yet, but it's a hamstring muscle issue. We'll have to wait for a full assessment, but initially, it doesn't look very good."
"Regarding Youri, I think he came on and showed his potential, both in personality and character he brings to the team. He has proven his worth. He's a great person, and I like having him in the squad because he brings many positive things to the team."
This leaves Man Utd with a total of seven players either injured or suspended ahead of their crucial next match, which could be decisive for Michael Carrick's future. They are set to host Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday, 8 November 2026 GMT+7.
Injured players- Carlos Baleba, Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Patrick Dorgu, Benjamin Sesko, Manuel Ugarte
