Somrak Kamsing consulted with the technical development division of the Amateur Boxing Association, expressing interest in recruiting Rodtang and Nabil to compete at the Olympics.
On 29 January 2026, Somrak Kamsing, the legendary Thai Olympic gold medalist boxer, gave an interview about the Thai national amateur boxing team preparing for the selection process to compete at the 2028 Olympics in the United States.
Somrak revealed through the Facebook page 'Nuidino MuayThaiclassic' that
"Actually, I have my eyes on Rodtang and Nabil. If both go, I believe they can win gold, but they aren’t coming. Rodtang really wants to come but is tied to a contract with ONE Championship. If someone could coordinate with Boss Chatree, we could see. From an athlete’s heart, sometimes you want to represent your country at the Olympics. Not everyone wants to go, but if Rodtang goes, his strength and power would intimidate the Westerners. Nabil also has an advantage because he is tall."
"Right now, I’m seeking assistance from Sie Boat Nattadet Wachiraratwong. Another boxer I like and who is possible is Hia Tee from Tded 99, Lamnamoon Lek, who has competed in amateur boxing three times and won all championships but is also under a ONE contract. He plans to try out at Saraburi’s selection. If he qualifies, we must ask Boss Chatree if it’s allowed. It’s possible. When there’s a fight, you fight Muay Thai, then after finishing, you train on weekends and can manage the schedule and commitments."
