Lawyer Wanchalerm Posts After Wanchalerm Was Attacked During Songkran—Legal Process Continues Despite Reconciliation

Lawyer Wanchalerm, namely lawyer Natthapong Srihamat, revealed points regarding sentencing and interpretation of the circumstances after Wanchalerm was attacked by a group.

On 14 April 2026, after Wanchalerm PK Saenchai, a former famous Muay Thai boxer, filed a complaint at Kalasin Police Station following an assault by local youths during the Songkran festival, which became widely reported on social media, attracting much public attention on the outcome.

Recently, Wanchalerm expressed gratitude to all parties who acted swiftly.

Wanchalerm posted, "I, Wanchalerm PK, would like to thank Police Colonel Songpol, Chief of Kalasin Provincial Police; Inspector Sutin, case officer; Police Colonel Watit, superintendent of Wat Prayakrai Police Station; Boss Siakhaek; Brother George; Boss Tom; and many others who quickly helped handle the matter."

"On this matter, we have forgiven each other and moved on, because we are from the same community and want to live together peacefully, to love and cherish one another. However, the legal process must continue. Thanks to lawyer Natthapong for overseeing the legal procedures. From now on, there will be no more posts alluding to the incident. Thank you all for your concern."

Meanwhile, lawyer Natthapong Srihamat posted an interesting message saying,

"Regarding the offense of 'assault' involving a 'well-known person' under Thai law and Supreme Court precedents, there are noteworthy points in sentencing and interpretation of the circumstances as follows: 1. Under the Criminal Code, assault is categorized by the severity of harm caused: • Section 295: Assault causing bodily or mental injury (imprisonment up to 2 years or a fine up to 40,000 baht, or both) • Section 391: Minor offense where assault does not cause bodily or mental injury (e.g., a slap causing slight pain but no wounds and no need for medical treatment)"

"2. Supreme Court rulings involving well-known persons (whether as perpetrator or victim) often consider factors such as 'social status' and 'impact.'"

"We must follow the law to the fullest. If you build your reputation, then you must be prepared to face consequences if attacked by friends."

Recently, lawyer Natthapong also posted another message after both parties apologized to each other.

"Generosity begins with giving, and happiness begins with forgiving those from the same community."

Matters within the village should be resolved as brothers and sisters. Forgiving each other allows both sides to live without suspicion. Legal matters will proceed according to the law. Those who dare to act must accept responsibility like true men. Regarding legal rights, they will be addressed as everyone is entitled under the law. We still confirm that legal procedures will continue. #Wanchalerm
