Chattree's strong words startle many after ONE Samurai 1 as Rodtang is knocked out by Takeru.
On 29 April 2026, Chattree Sitthiyodtong, CEO of ONE Championship, gave an interview after the ONE Samurai 1 event at Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan. The main event saw Rodtang Jitmuangnon lose by knockout to his longtime Japanese rival Takeru Segawa in the interim ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Championship bout.
This issue was revealed by HOSSALONSO, a SIAMSPORT reporter who was on-site in Japan, following the fight between Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Takeru Segawa, which was the final match of the event.
During part of the interview, Chattree Sitthiyodtong made remarks interpreted as relating to Rodtang Jitmuangnon after his knockout loss to Takeru Segawa at 2:22 of the fifth round, referencing the case of Jonathan Haggerty, who defended his ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing title by unanimous decision against Yuki Yoza, focusing on themes of "discipline" and "humility."
Chattree Sitthiyodtong said, "We have seen that when people gain wealth and fame and let it consume them, causing them to stop developing and training, and their environment changes, what happens? Tonight, there was an example to see."
"Becoming the best fighter in the world within a great martial arts organization is not easy, and maintaining that position is even harder."
Although no one was named directly, many viewed Chattree Sitthiyodtong's comments as referring to Rodtang Jitmuangnon after his loss to Takeru in this critical fight. Previously, the Thai fighter had faced questions regarding his preparation and physical maintenance.
