Somrak Explains Why Rodtang Was Knocked Out by Takeru at ONE Championship, Shares a Memorable Quote (Video)

Somrak Kamsing explains the reason why Rodtang Jitmuangnon was knocked out by Takeru Segawa in the main event of ONE Samurai 1, sharing a memorable quote (video).

On 30 April 2026, Somrak Kamsing, a legendary former Thai boxer and 1996 Olympic gold medalist, analyzed why Rodtang Jitmuangnon was knocked out by Takeru Segawa in the main event of ONE Samurai 1 held in Japan.

Yesterday, Rodtang Jitmuangnon was knocked out by his longtime Japanese rival Takeru Segawa in the 5th round, losing the ONE Kickboxing interim flyweight world championship belt. Although Rodtang fought hard to recover, he could not withstand Takeru's powerful punches.

Somrak Kamsing believes the main reason Rodtang lost to Takeru was due to contract disputes with ONE Championship just days before the fight, causing accumulated stress. This likely affected his rest and training. However, he praised Rodtang's fighting spirit for never giving up until the very end.

Somrak, also known as "Hero Bas," shared an interview clip about Rodtang on his personal Facebook, saying, "You really have to respect Rodtang's heart. He fought with dignity and battled until the last drop."

"Even though there were issues during training before the match, this affected him. When someone experiences stress, they can't sleep well and their training isn't complete."

"Additionally, before the fight, Rodtang didn't know whether he would actually compete or not, which caused more stress due to the problems. But once he got into the ring, Rodtang showed the heart of a lion and fought with all his might, though physically and training-wise he was behind."

"When he got hit, the Japanese fighter (Takeru) didn't falter, but our guy did. Rodtang's punch speed was slower than his opponent's. This was due to stress causing incomplete training. Still, it's okay; Rodtang did his best."

"Boxers win and lose sometimes. Sometimes it's their turn, sometimes ours. I've been there too; at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, when I lost, the whole country criticized me (lost by RSC to Ricardo Juarez from the USA in the quarterfinals). Can you believe that a genius boxer like Samart Payakaroon also lost a title defense in Australia and was criticized nationwide when he was knocked out?"

"So, stay calm. We have skill. Smile through all problems, little brother. Smile and keep fighting. I'm not boasting, but you will surely get through this."
