Liu Meng Yang has issued an apology after injuring Tawanchai's leg, which led to Tawanchai having to forfeit his Muay Thai world championship.
On 24 July 2026, following Tawanchai P.K. Saenchai Muaythai Gym's announcement to relinquish his featherweight Muay Thai world title due to a fractured shin bone injury sustained at ONE Lumpinee 137 in December 2025, caused by a kick from Liu Meng Yang, a tough competitor from China.
Tawanchai wants the current interim champion, Nico Carrillo, to continue on the planned path and acknowledged that winning this title required great effort and sweat.
Recently, Liu Meng Yang, the tough Chinese fighter, posted an apology video for Tawanchai: "Hello, I am Liu Meng Yang. Over the past two days, I've seen many articles and clips about this. I have learned that Tawanchai has relinquished his Muay Thai world championship belt. His action is very noble because he is injured. Another Thai champion should take this as an example. His leg was injured because of me. I did not expect it to be this serious. I want to apologize directly to Tawanchai here. I wish him a speedy recovery and a quick return to the ring, to rise back to the top and reclaim his Muay Thai world championship belt."
