On 14 August 2026, ONE Championship, together with the Amateur Boxing Association of Thailand and the National Olympic Committee of Thailand under royal patronage, held a press conference announcing that Nabil Anan, former Muay Thai bantamweight world champion, would join the selection process for amateur boxing to compete in the 2028 Olympic Games.
Nabil Anan said, "I do not intend to cut ahead of anyone. I have not proven that I am better than them, so I would not skip the selection to the Olympics ahead of them. No."
"Anyone in Thailand in the same weight category as me, I will compete against you one by one. If I am the best, I ask to be accepted to compete for an Olympic medal in 2028. If you are better, you get the opportunity to compete for the medal instead, and I will congratulate you."
