On 30 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Anthony Joshua, the famous British-Nigerian boxer and former heavyweight world champion, was involved in a car collision with another vehicle on the Lagos–Ibadan highway in the city of Makun, Nigeria, yesterday at 11:00 a.m. local time. Two people died in the crash, though their identities have not yet been officially released. Joshua sustained only minor injuries.
Eddie Hearn, Anthony Joshua's promoter, told the Daily Mail Sport that the 36-year-old boxer traveled to Nigeria to relax with his family. "We are trying to reach Anthony, and meanwhile, we do not want to speculate about his condition. But from the images I have seen, it is reassuring that he does not appear to be seriously hurt," he said.
Meanwhile, Nigeria's Federal Road Safety Corps issued a statement saying the Lexus vehicle Joshua was riding in is suspected of exceeding the legal speed limit, losing control while attempting to overtake, and crashing into a stationary truck parked by the roadside.
This accident occurred just weeks after Anthony Joshua knocked out Jake Paul, the famous YouTuber turned boxer, in a Netflix-promoted fight held in Miami, United States.
