Rodtang Jitmuangnon openly admitted from the heart that he did not train well and faced problems outside the ring after losing to Takeru, missing out on the interim ONE world title.
On 14 May 2026, after Rodtang Jitmuangnon was knocked out in the fifth round by Takeru Segawa in the flyweight kickboxing division at ONE SAMURAI 1, it marked Takeru's farewell to the ring as he secured the interim world championship.
Rodtang gave an interesting interview to former Japanese boxer Valentine Hosokawa, candidly admitting that he hadn’t trained enough due to issues outside the ring.
“It was a mistake from the very start. My body wasn’t prepared because I hadn’t trained. When I got in the ring, my body just wasn’t ready. Everything was stopped—I felt like I was being completely dominated. I wanted to fight back, but I had no strength.”
“When I got hit, I wanted to retaliate immediately, which threw off the plan I had prepared.”
“Everyone already knows something happened—I had no energy and lacked training. The events that occurred recently caused me to lose focus a lot. I was basically just trying to maintain my weight. If you don’t train and have no power to strike, there’s no way you can beat anyone, no matter how skilled you are.”
