Chatri Sithyodthong is confident that no Thai amateur boxer in the 65-70 kilogram category can defeat “Nabil.”
On 14 August 2026, ONE Championship, together with the Boxing Association of Thailand and the National Olympic Committee of Thailand under royal patronage, held a press conference announcing that Nabil Anan, former bantamweight Muay Thai world champion, will join the selection for amateur boxing competition at the 2028 Olympic Games.
Chatri Sithyodthong, CEO of ONE, shared his views on fighting with small gloves in ONE versus large gloves in amateur boxing, saying that small gloves are much more difficult, and that Nabil is certain to win a gold medal.
“I’ve seen many people attacking Nabil on social media. If you love the country, you should support him for Thailand. Nabil truly has a chance at the gold medal. If he didn’t, we would have him continue in Muay Thai or kickboxing. It would be a shame if Thai fans are jealous or uninformed. They need to do their homework like I have. In Thailand’s amateur boxing at 65 or 70 kilograms, no one can beat Nabil today, 100%."
He also added that small gloves cause more cuts than large gloves, which will definitely benefit Nabil in amateur boxing competitions if he qualifies for the 2028 Olympics.
Furthermore, Boss Chatri revealed that for the 65 and 70 kilogram amateur boxing divisions in Thailand, any boxer who defeats Nabil will receive a bonus of 350,000 baht.
