Somrak Ready to Welcome Rodtang-Sang-Athit for Thai National Boxing Team Selection for 2028 Olympics

Somrak Kamsing is ready to welcome Rodtang and Sang-Athit for the Thai national boxing team selection targeting the 2028 Olympics.

On 24 August 2026, Somrak Kamsing, advisor to the Boxing Association of Thailand, expressed readiness to accept Sang-Athit Luksaikongdin, former WBA Asia super lightweight boxing champion who now competes in kickboxing with ONE Championship, to try out for the Thai national boxing team aiming for the 2028 Olympics in the 65-kilogram category. Banjong Sinsiri, three-time SEA Games gold medalist, might also be a main contender.

Somrak said, "Regarding Sang-Athit Luksaikongdin, Rodtang asked if Sang-Athit could come try out in the 65-kilogram division. He might compete against Banjong, who is going to the 2026 Asian Games in the 70-kilogram category because the 65-kilogram class is not available there. If Banjong hasn’t retired and wants to go to the 2028 Olympics, he will be the main contender in the 65-kilogram division. Any boxer interested in trying out is welcome."

"We welcome everyone, whether it's Sang-Athit, Lamnamoonlek, or Rodtang. There will be selections. Other camps are also invited if they think they have the skill. Currently, the Association is prioritizing Banjong. It will be exciting to see Banjong compete against Rodtang, or Banjong versus Lamnamoonlek or Sang-Athit. Anyone wishing to try out must have some credentials."
