Sia Boat met with the Thai Olympic Committee after perceiving that Mongkutphet, a Thai boxer, was cheated at the 2025 SEA Games, resulting in missing out on a gold medal.
On 23 December 2025, Mongkutphet Phetprao Fa, a Thai national boxing athlete, accompanied by “Sia Boat” Nattadet Wachirattanawong, went to the Ampawan Thewet residence to submit a complaint to the Thai Olympic Committee. Assistant Professor Pimol Sriwikorn, the committee's chairperson, personally received the complaint. They alleged cheating in the 2025 SEA Games, hosted by Thailand, which led to Mongkutphet earning only a silver medal in the women's 45-kilogram category.
Sia Boat revealed, “Previously, there was Captain, a former ONE world champion, who competed in amateur Muay Thai, such as the World Championship in Dubai. The problem then was Captain won gold but did not receive the prize money. Before the event, there was an agreement that gold medalists would get a 500,000 baht bonus, but it didn’t happen. This wasn’t just him; it happened to others too. That was the start. The association then banned Captain because he spoke out demanding the money.”
“Phetmongkut is a champion from RWS, normally earning around 150,000 to 200,000 baht. But when competing for the Thai national team, he had to train for three months. Initially, he was told he would receive a 27,000 baht monthly allowance, but in reality, he got nothing for three months. Finally, just before the SEA Games started, they paid 40% of the total amount, deducting accommodation and food expenses, so the athlete received 9,000 baht each month, totaling 27,000 baht for three months. Only one day before the finals did he get the full amount.”
“During the competition, starting from the semifinals, there were talks that athletes like Phet Suphan, a favorite, lost controversially. After the match, a Thai coach from the Malaysian team said the medals were fixed for Malaysia. However, eventually, the Philippines won gold. Maybe the news came out or something like that.”
“Our athletes were cheated on home soil, but the team manager did not protest, which should have happened. We must protect our athletes. Everyone stayed silent, only stating there was no match-fixing and no action was taken. The team manager never came to support the athletes, never appeared at all.”
“In my opinion, the structure should be changed now. Some associations genuinely develop athletes, but many just seek benefits. This prevents our sports from growing. Those who put in the effort spend their own money hoping for success. But in this situation, our own athletes and Thai sports fans criticize the entire country. Only the association president accepts it. What's worse, the person managing the amateur Thai boxing association isn't even Thai. They let foreigners manage the funds. Who has the right to claim ownership of Muay Thai? The harsh judging isn’t enough; they also try to control Muay Thai for themselves. If Muay Thai is to prosper, the structure must change. I pray someday we will see change.”
The Thai Olympic Committee will invite Dr. Sakchai Thapsuwan, president of the Amateur Thai Boxing Association and IFMA chairman, to discuss these issues. The letter will be completed within this week, and discussions are planned for the first week after the New Year.
