The Thai Olympic Committee is fully prepared to assist athletes who have been treated unfairly in judging at the 2025 SEA Games.
On 23 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Mungkornphet Phetprawfa, a Thai national boxing athlete, along with “Sia Boat” Natdet Wachirattanawong, went to the Amphawan Thewet residence to submit a complaint to the Thai Olympic Committee. Associate Professor Pimon Srivikorn, Chair of the Thai Olympic Committee, personally accepted the complaint after they claimed to have been cheated in the 2025 SEA Games, hosted by Thailand, resulting in only a silver medal in the women's 45 kg division.
Associate Professor Pimon Srivikorn, Chair of the National Olympic Committee of Thailand, stated, “Usually, it is the responsibility of each sports association to file complaints with their respective international federations. However, in this case, the President of the Thai Amateur Boxing Association is also the Chair of the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA), so I am unsure how much can be done. If a violation is found, the match results might not be overturned, but referees can be penalized for mistakes. If match-fixing is confirmed, heavier sanctions should apply. The Thai Olympic Committee will do its utmost to assist and expedite this process.”
Thanat Chaiprasit, Vice Chair of the National Olympic Committee of Thailand, said, “I was seated opposite the VIP area and could see the reactions clearly. Among those present, there were questions raised. On that day, an IOC (International Olympic Committee) representative came to assess the 2025 SEA Games organization and asked why the Thai boxer, who was expected to win, ended up losing.”
The Thai Olympic Committee plans to invite Dr. Sakchai Thapsuwan, President of the Thai Amateur Boxing Association and Chair of IFMA, to discuss this matter. The official letter will be sent within this week, with talks scheduled for the first week after the New Year holidays.
