A major controversy shakes the boxing world! "Sia Boat" Natdet Wachiraratwong, a renowned promoter, posts a fiery message: "If you're not ashamed, I am."
On 6 Jan 2026 GMT+7, senior figures in the sport affirmed that the 2025 SEA Games decisions were transparent with no match-fixing, revealing that protests failed due to host equipment failures and absence of video replay for decisions.
The issue became heated following the Muay Thai competition at the 2025 SEA Games, after "Mongkutphet Phetprao Fa" and two other Thai teammates suffered controversial losses, leading to a complaint to the National Olympic Committee of Thailand.
Recently, Associate Professor Pimol Srivikrom, Chair of the Olympic Committee, invited Dr. Sakchai Tapsuwan, President of the Amateur Muay Thai Association and IFMA Chair, for discussions. Dr. Sakchai firmly stated, "There is absolutely no match-fixing," and addressed key points as follows:
• No directives given: He confirmed referees scored based on experience without orders to favor any boxer, and pledged to investigate rumors about Thai coaches abroad alleging match-fixing.
• Protest submitted but rejected: He revealed that the Thai team protested all three matches immediately, but the technical committee (FAMA) rejected the protests due to the requirement for video evidence, which was unavailable as the event lacked video equipment, a shortcoming of the organizers.
• Moving forward: The Thai Olympic Committee plans to file complaints with the Asian Muay Thai Federation (FAMA) and IFMA to establish measures preventing similar failures in the future.
Meanwhile, "Sia Boat" shared the news with a brief but biting caption: "If you're not ashamed, then I am. Long live IFMA " amid criticism from boxing fans who see international Muay Thai judging standards as a major issue needing resolution.
