Straight Talk from Friend Amnat Ruengreang, Former World Boxing Champion, After Fourth Arrest for Drunken Disorderly Conduct

Rang Phra Nakhon posted about Amnat Ruengreang, former IBF world champion, after he was arrested for drunken disorderly conduct.

On 25 Jan 2026 GMT+7, police at Si Racha station took Amnat Ruengreang, former Thai national amateur boxer and former IBF flyweight (112 lb) world champion, into custody after he became intoxicated and caused a disturbance in Si Racha district, Chonburi province. He was initially taken to the police station to regain composure. This was the fourth time he had been detained by police for similar behavior.

Previously, the boxing community tried to help, including Natdet Wachirattanawong, a famous Muay Thai promoter, who offered him a role as a boxing coach at the Petchyindee gym, and the Thai Mixed Martial Arts Association, which allowed him to coach national athletes. Family members and even Dr. Pla also attempted to care for and treat his alcohol addiction, but ultimately these efforts were unsuccessful.

Rang Phra Nakhon, a friend of Amnat Ruengreang, posted on Facebook expressing deep understanding of Amnat and full support for the former world boxing champion.

“Recently, I understand my friend well. He has serious mental health issues, but I can’t interfere too much. I’ve already told his family what should be done...”

“But in the end, it still turns out like this. He is my friend.”

“When my friend was normal and a world champion, everyone wanted to be around him for benefits and fame.”

“But today, with him like this, no one cares, and everyone who says they are friends walks away. Friendship isn’t just about being there during happy times.”

“If anyone wants to help with money for his treatment or wants me to be involved in helping him, just say so. Or if he needs to go to jail, I’m willing to pay and take care of him myself.”

“Believe me, someone like Amnat needs the Department of Corrections to look after him. Rehabilitation centers can’t handle him.”
