Rodtang Jitmuangnon acknowledges he does not receive a 10 million baht purse for every fight as previously reported.
On 15 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Rodtang Jitmuangnon, former ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion, discussed various topics in a Facebook live session on his personal page.
Rodtang currently has no scheduled fights arranged by any promotions. His last scheduled bout was on 16 Nov 2023 GMT+7 against Nong-O Hama Muay Thai for the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Championship. Despite making weight and passing hydration tests, Rodtang fell ill and was unable to fight, while Nong-O missed weight, leading to the immediate cancellation of the fight at ONE 173.
Rodtang addressed several topics, starting with the vacant title fight between Nong-O and Assadullah at ONE Lumpinee 147 on Friday, 20 Mar 2026 GMT+7, at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium (Ram Inthra).
“I want the championship fight to happen if given the chance. But the event has already announced Nong-O versus Assadullah Imangazaliev. I hope Nong-O wins. Why it isn’t me versus Nong-O for the title, I don’t know. It depends on the promotion. Everyone deserves a chance since the title is vacant. My previous posts aren’t about me missing the title shot. Those who say I was given a chance but failed—on that day the doctor checked me even though I had made weight and hydration.”
“Regarding the two times I failed to make weight, yes, that’s true. I stopped fighting for a year due to a major surgery that required medication and a lot of eating, which caused me to gain weight. My comeback fight was against Denis Purich; I wanted to see if I could continue. If fighting caused injury, I might have to retire. The second fight was against Jacob Smith under Muay Thai rules with smaller gloves to test if I could still compete, though there were slight muscle spasms. If I had to make weight, I would focus on it in one go — both hydration and weight. Making weight in two or three attempts is too much for my body. I passed hydration but exceeded weight by about 200 grams.”
“I’ve never demanded a title shot but I want to fight. Just set me up to fight. I want to take risks and perform for the fans. I’m speaking out now because people have been commenting and speculating about conflicts with others. I have no issues with anyone. It’s not serious, but there are many other matters people don’t know that might shock them if revealed. I’m okay with things at this point. If I weren’t, you would have seen it that day.”
Regarding the purse, Rodtang revealed he does not receive 10 million baht for every fight as previously announced by Boss Chatri Sityodtong after Rodtang defeated Mexican fighter Edgar Tabares in the United States in 2023.
“Everyone probably knows about the purse. The first time I earned a big purse wasn’t just the Takeru Segawa fight. Many know I was the first Thai fighter to earn 10 million baht because my popularity worldwide was very high. But everyone should also know that I don’t get 10 million baht for every fight, right? I just want to fight now, but some things must be balanced and fair. I want everyone to know I dislike being taken advantage of, and I don’t take advantage of anyone. What I say and do must match. Working together requires sincerity, right?”
Rodtang read comments saying, “It doesn’t have to be 10 million baht every fight; it depends on the event and opponent.”
He continued, “If that’s the case, it should be stated upfront. If you’re a promoter, you must clarify from the start. I’m an honest person; I say what I can deliver. I’m not upset if they pay me less, as long as it’s clear from the beginning. If they say one thing but do another later, that’s not right. If you ask whether it depends on the event or opponent (for purse variation), well, I am who I am. Organizing my fights depends on the opponent or me. I want to fight every month, but there are no events. The issue isn’t the purse; it’s a secondary matter. There’s more to it. When I signed to fight Nong-O, my purse wasn’t high. I even invested myself and got sick. I’m not arguing about money. For the Takeru fight, the boss gave me 17 million baht. I just want to clarify some things I posted. I didn’t even post pictures, just fight photos, but I want everyone to know I am a fighter who wants to fight.”
