
Sutin Klangsang, President of the Military Sports Promotion Association, announced the association's 1-year achievements, declaring the success in advancing Muay Thai to the global military sports arena and plans for major competitions continuing into 2026.
Bangkok – Dr. Sutin Klangsang, President of the Military Sports Promotion Association (Thailand), along with Dr. Panya Hanlamyuang, Vice President, and General Mom Luang Supreedee Prawit, together with the association's committee, held a press conference marking the association's 1-year anniversary. They revealed historic successes and preparations for hosting future global competitions.
1. Opening the door for Muay Thai on the world stage: Inclusion in the CISM World Summer Games 2027.
Dr. Sutin disclosed that the International Military Sports Council (CISM) authorized Thailand to host the 1st CISM Military Muaythai Challenge from 8-14 July 2025 at Paragon Hall, with participation from 13 countries: Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, Belgium, Palestine, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Poland, Kazakhstan, Iran, Bahrain, Japan, Malaysia, and Thailand.
The greatest achievement is Muay Thai being officially included as the 26th sport in the CISM World Summer Games 2027 in North Carolina, USA. This event is the world's second largest multi-sport event after the Olympics, with 141 member countries, marking Muay Thai's official entry into a major global sports festival.
2. Continuing the legacy as the Motherland of MUAYTHAI: Hosting the 2nd challenge in 2026.
Following this success, CISM has invited Thailand to host the 2nd CISM Military Muaythai Challenge in 2026, recognizing it as the homeland of Muay Thai:
• Schedule: 1-8 July 2026 at the Emsphere shopping center.
• Co-organizers: Thai Armed Forces, Military Sports Promotion Association, Amateur Muay Thai Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, and the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA).
• Objectives: To develop Muay Thai standards internationally, use cultural soft power to build international relations, and boost tourism economy.
• Note: This event is listed in the CISM World Events Calendar 2026. The Preliminary Agreement is due by 1 May 2026, and the Final Entry by 15 June 2026.
3. Promoting youth through the Youth Muaythai - Stage Dance Contest 2026.
The association recognizes the importance of building a sustainable foundation through youth and is preparing to organize the following event:
• Event: Youth Muaythai - Stage Dance Contest 2026.
• Date: 20-21 June 2026 at The Mall Lifestore Bangkae shopping center.
• Age categories: 8-12 years and 13-18 years.
• Prizes: Total prize money exceeding 500,000 baht to promote Thai wisdom and provide a platform for showcasing talent under association regulations.
