Fiery Exchange: Takeru Sharp-Wittedly Responds to Rodtangs 2-Round Boxing Challenge Ahead of ONE Samurai 1 Clash (Video)

Fiery exchange: "Takeru" sharp-wittedly responds to "Rodtang"'s 2-round boxing challenge ahead of ONE Samurai 1 clash (Video)

On 27 April 2026, ONE Championship Thailand shared the latest clip featuring Rodtang Jitmuangnon, the top Thai fighter, and Takeru Segawa, the Japanese superstar, ahead of their intense showdown at ONE Samurai 1 on Wednesday, 29 April.

They are scheduled to clash at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan, for the interim ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Championship belt. Takeru Segawa is determined to avenge his loss to Rodtang Jitmuangnon before retiring perfectly in the main event of ONE Samurai 1.

Previously, Takeru Segawa was knocked out by Rodtang just 1 minute and 20 seconds into the first round at ONE 172 in Thailand on 23 March 2025, competing under kickboxing rules.

Rodtang Jitmuangnon issued a challenge: "If you want to raise the stakes, I want to ask Takeru—he may have lost to me the first fight, but this time I’m giving him a chance to redeem himself. How about a 2-round boxing match?"

Hearing this, the determined Takeru, eager to settle the score, responded to the challenge: "I lost to him in 80 seconds last year, and in all my years as a fighter, I've never had a match end where I couldn’t do anything like that before."

"For me, that was perhaps the most humiliating defeat. It took me a full year to face Rodtang in the ring again, but I’m glad to finally meet him once more. Looking at my opponent, I feel eager to fight as soon as possible."

"However, in an actual fight, you never know what will happen, and like last time, this bout could also end in the first round, regardless of how the fight unfolds."

"I don’t know much about boxing, but in a match between him and me, I think our styles suit each other well. From the first round, no one can predict what will happen. I believe this fight could also end quickly. Nevertheless, I will make sure to defeat him."
