Rodtang was knocked out by Takeru in the 5th round, suffering revenge in the ONE Samurai 1 interim world championship fight.
On 29 Apr 2026 GMT+7, the ONE Championship event ONE Samurai 1 took place at Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan. The main event featured Rodtang Jitmuangnon against Takeru Sekigawa competing for the interim ONE Kickboxing Flyweight World Championship.
This was their second encounter. The 34-year-old Takeru Sekigawa aimed to avenge his previous loss to Rodtang Jitmuangnon, which came by first-round knockout at 1:20 during ONE 172 in Thailand on 23 Mar 2025.
In round 1, Takeru initiated the offense, focusing on low kicks, while Rodtang showed resilience and looked for counterattack opportunities. However, Takeru maintained a higher strike volume.
Round 2 saw Takeru deliver fierce attacks, causing the referee to count to eight twice against Rodtang. Near the end, Takeru unleashed a flurry of punches, but Rodtang managed to survive until the bell.
In round 3, Rodtang pressed forward, trying to close the scoring gap, but the Japanese opponent showed no signs of weakness and countered periodically.
With no other options in round 4, Rodtang engaged fully in a trading battle with Takeru, landing several effective strikes. Nevertheless, Takeru remained strong, intermittently countering with punches and kicks, and cornered Rodtang late in the round. The bell saved Rodtang once again.
In round 5, Takeru maintained his power advantage over Rodtang, who fought hard but lacked sufficient impact in his strikes. Ultimately, Takeru caused Rodtang’s third referee count and finished the fight by knockout at 2:22 of the final round.
This victory awarded Takeru Sekigawa the interim ONE Kickboxing Flyweight World Championship at ONE Samurai 1 and marked a grand finale to his fighting career by successfully avenging his loss to Rodtang Jitmuangnon.
