Chatri Speaks Candidly About Rodtang After Heartbreaking Knockout Loss to Takeru at ONE Samurai 1

"Chatri" speaks candidly about "Rodtang" after a heartbreaking knockout loss to Takeru at ONE Samurai 1.

On 30 April 2026, Chatri Sityodtong, CEO of ONE Championship, gave an interview regarding Rodtang Jitmuangnon after the conclusion of ONE Samurai 1 in Japan, where Rodtang was knocked out by his longtime Japanese rival Takeru Segawa in the fifth round of the interim ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Championship fight.

Chatri Sityodtong subtly referenced the case of Jonathan Haggerty, who successfully defended the ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Championship by unanimous decision over Yuki Yoza, emphasizing discipline and humility. Although he did not mention anyone by name, most interpreted this as a connection to Rodtang Jitmuangnon.

Regarding the statement linked to Rodtang, Chatri said, "We have seen that when a person gains wealth and fame and lets it dominate them, ceasing to develop and train, and their surrounding environment changes, what happens? Tonight gave us an example of that."

"Being the best fighter in the world within the greatest martial arts organization is not easy, and maintaining that position is even harder."

When asked directly about Rodtang Jitmuangnon following his loss to Takeru Segawa in the ring, Chatri offered this reflection for the Thai fighter: "Of course, I feel sorry for Rodtang. I know his heart is broken, but he is a world-class champion fighter."

"If he returns to focus on training, learning, and reignites his hunger for victory, he can return to the top of the world. Like all of us, if we become too comfortable, failure will follow."
