Thailand Wins 2 Gold and 2 Bronze Medals at IFMA 2026 Muay Thai World Championships

Thailand won 2 gold and 2 bronze medals at the IFMA 2026 Muay Thai World Championships in Malaysia, while also making history in the inaugural Muay Thai School World Championships.


The Thai national Muay Thai team from the Muay Thai Sports Association delivered an outstanding performance at the IFMA World Championships 2026 held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. They secured 2 gold medals in the senior category along with 2 bronze medals from the Muay Thai School World Championships, the first-ever event organized through a collaboration between the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) and the International School Sport Federation (ISF).


In the senior category, Thai national athletes secured 2 gold medals from


磊 Kullanat Aonok in the Senior Female Elite category, weighing -51 kilograms.


磊 Abdolmalek Thingnamrob in the Senior Male Elite category, weighing -63.5 kilograms.


With these results, Thailand earned 2 points and ranked joint third on the Skill Levels leaderboard alongside Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Saudi Arabia in the IFMA Senior World Championship 2026.


Meanwhile, at the first-ever Muay Thai School World Championships, marking the inaugural global school-level Muay Thai competition, all five young Thai athletes delivered impressive performances. Two athletes won bronze medals, and three others finished fifth in the world.


雷 Phoowadet Boonloet, 15 years old, in the U16 male -48 kilogram category.

He defeated Artem Mitkskevich in the round of 16.

He then beat Abdulahad Ali in the quarterfinals.

Before losing to Daniil Elizarov in the semifinals, securing a bronze medal.


雷 Chaichot Lhumbanglah, 14 years old, in the U16 male -54 kilogram category.

He defeated Bilguun Uuganbayar in the round of 16.

He then won over Muhammad Abi Qaid Mohd Abi Nubly in the quarterfinals.

Before losing to Muhammed Halil Bayraktar in the semifinals, earning a bronze medal.


The athletes who finished fifth in the world are:


• Supavej Kaewrat, 14 years old, U16 male -60 kilogram category.


• Adunlawat Phetsongsi, 17 years old, U18 male -57 kilogram category.


• Chayathon Soman, 16 years old, U18 male -63.5 kilogram category.


This Muay Thai School World Championships marks a significant milestone for global Muay Thai, as IFMA and ISF have jointly launched an official pathway for developing school-level Muay Thai athletes on the international stage. Thailand is among the first nations to send athletes to this historic event.


The success of the Thai national athletes at both senior and youth levels reflects the strength of Thailand's continuous Muay Thai development system, from school to world stage, reaffirming Thailand's role as the origin and leader of Muay Thai internationally.
