Somrak reveals he was behind bringing Nabil to Olympic boxing and may also bring "Rothang"; he believes these two are heroes who can win gold medals.
On 12 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Somrak Kamsing, Thailand's first Olympic gold medal hero, posted a clip revealing he acted as a scout for the Amateur Boxing Association to negotiate with Boss Chatri to bring “Nabil and Rothang” to Olympic boxing. He believes if Nabil and Rothang join the Olympics, they will surely have a strong chance at gold. However, they must prove themselves against the current national team to ensure the best athletes go; Rothang might also come.
"As I said from the start, I wanted Nabil and Rothang. I mentioned this two or three years ago. Since the Amateur Boxing Association appointed me as an advisor, I have been focused on getting Nabil. I asked the association to contact Boss Chatri to bring Nabil and Rothang to the Olympics. I'm sure they can contend for gold."
"Nabil has a tall, lanky physique which is an advantage, and his basic punches are effective. With a little refinement, he can definitely succeed. Nowadays, amateur boxing is fought like professional boxing — no headgear, open head, and the fighting style is similar to pro boxing.
