Thai futsal players are left hungry at the SEA Games 2025, having boxed lunches for every lunch. What is the meal budget per meal?
On 11 Dec 2025 GMT+7, two official days of the 2025 SEA Games have passed, with nearly all gold medals contested across Bangkok and Chonburi provinces. However, problems remain unresolved: national flags are still incorrect, food is nearly insufficient, transportation is delayed, and accommodations are confusing.
Recently,Futsal Poonpoonposted photos of athletes' meals with the message: “The Thai women's national futsal team at SEA Games 2025 is eating boxed lunches for every lunch. When competing abroad, they get hotel buffets, but here in Thailand, they receive boxed meals. We hope future days can provide more filling meals, especially on match days. Dinner is not a problem. The Thai women's futsal team has won gold at every SEA Games they have competed in.”
Similarly, the Vietnamese women's futsal team reflected on the problem that the food at the SEA Games is substandard, forcing them to buy additional food from outside.
For the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games, the Sports Authority of Thailand allocated a budget of 247,167,200 baht for accommodation, food, laundry, and transportation. Specifically, the food management budget is 17,208,000 baht for athletes and officials. The contractor must provide three main meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), prepared to hotel standards including halal options, from 1 to 21 December for no fewer than 8,000 people, three meals daily, or 239 baht per person per meal.
