Miguel Rodrigo, coach of Thailand's futsal team, gave an interview after a heavy loss to Indonesia, missing out on the gold medal at the 2025 SEA Games.
On 19 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Thailand's men's futsal team lost 1-5 to Indonesia in the final round-robin match of SEA Games 2025, securing only the silver medal. The gold went to Indonesia, while Vietnam took the bronze.
Miguel Rodrigo, coach of Thailand's men's futsal team, said, "Today we tried our best, but it just wasn't our day. Every player gave their all. I must apologize to Thai fans for not meeting our goal. I am also saddened, but I want to say everyone truly gave their best."
"I think this is a normal part of sports—these kinds of outcomes happen. But today, it happened to us, and Indonesia performed better. We made more mistakes. The Indonesian national team achieved their objectives, played their game well, and if anyone must take responsibility, it is me, as I am in charge."
The Spanish coach also affirmed that this team still has heart and a strong desire to win, ready to fight again.
"I still believe our athletes have a constant hunger for victory, and I believe they will come back, rise up once more."
