Thailands Mens Futsal Team Appoints New Head Coach to Replace Miguel After SEA Games 2025 Silver Medal

"Coach Mee" Rakpol Sainetngam is preparing to take the helm as the new head coach of Thailand's national futsal team.

On 2 Jan 2026 GMT+7, the Football Association of Thailand is set to officially introduce the new head coach of the men's national futsal team on Monday, 5 Jan.

Reports indicate that "Coach Mee" Rakpol Sainetngam, a Thai coach who recently led Malaysia's senior team to a bronze medal at SEA Games 2025 and the U19 team to third place in the 2025 ASEAN Championship, will take over the "War Elephants" futsal team, replacing Miguel Rodrigo who resigned after the SEA Games 2025 where Thailand earned only a silver medal.

Previously, "Coach Mee" coached Bluewave Chonburi to an Asian club championship and also led Indonesia's Black Steel team to win both the ASEAN club championship and their domestic league title once each.

The Thai men's futsal team’s next competition is the 2026 Asian Championship in Indonesia, where they are placed in Group B alongside Vietnam, Kuwait, and Lebanon, with matches scheduled from 27 January to 7 February.
