Muhammad Joins Thai National Futsal Team Ahead of 2026 Asian Championship

Muhammad Usman Musa has joined the Thai futsal team’s training in preparation for the 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup, which will be held from 27 January to 7 February 2026 in Indonesia.

On 14 Jan 2026 at the futsal court on the 2nd floor of the FA Thailand building, the Thai men's national futsal team continued their morning training session to prepare for the final round of the 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup, scheduled from 27 January to 7 February 2026 in Indonesia.

In this training session, head coach Mee Rakphol Sainetngam welcomed Muhammad Usman Musa, a striker from Jímbee Cartagena in the Spanish league, who joined the team for the first time. The two-hour session focused on improving physical fitness and detailed tactical work on both offense and defense.

After training, Muhammad Usman Musa said, "My first day of training was quite intense because Coach Mee emphasizes quality in both offensive and defensive drills. It felt like a fresh start with a Thai style of play, which is also the coach’s style. I see this as very positive for both myself and the Thai national team."

"This is my second time working with Coach Mee. I think he has his own unique style, and we have to learn to adapt quickly. I already understand some aspects. My teammates have played together for 3-4 years, so we still have time to adjust and improve before the tournament. After the SEA Games, there are many things we need to fix because we missed out on the SEA Games title. We still have time to reflect and must stay focused no matter the opponent; we must play worthy of being on the national team."

"Our strength will be teamwork because the Thai national team does not rely on any single player; we play as a team and have strong defense. I’m 100% confident every time I return to play for the national team. I’m hungry to help the team as much as possible. Physically, I have no injuries, just some slight fatigue from traveling."

"Having a Thai coach again is a good thing. As everyone knows, Coach Mee is one of the best coaches. If he wasn’t, he wouldn’t have been able to work abroad for many years. My goal for the AFC Futsal Asian Cup is to reach the final and win the championship at least once. Nothing is easy, but we will give our best. I ask Thai futsal fans to support us; everyone will perform to the best of their ability."

The Thai men's national futsal team will continue their training camp and will select the final 14 players to prepare for departure to Indonesia on 24 January 2026.
