The futsal team from Wongsawaditkul University experienced a bus fire accident while returning from the 51st Thailand University Games competition.
On 18 January 2026, the futsal players from Wongsawaditkul University encountered a bus fire while returning from the 51st Thailand University Games “Inthanin Games 2026” at Maejo University in Chiang Mai Province.
The incident happened after the futsal competition ended, with Wongsawaditkul University advancing to the quarterfinals. While traveling through Uttaradit Province back to Nakhon Ratchasima Province, the players on the bus smelled smoke from the rear. Looking back, they saw flames starting to rise, so they shouted to the driver to stop the bus and safely evacuated without any injuries.
Phuchit Masakhao, a team player, posted a video of the bus fire along with the message, "It was a night I almost didn’t wake up from. I can't believe this happened to us."
After the incident, the players and coaching staff received help from Mae Bua Daeng restaurant, which provided shelter and food while waiting for a replacement bus to continue their journey. Everyone has since safely arrived in Nakhon Ratchasima Province.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the relevant authorities.
